Because He is We are...
"Yesterday, Today and Forever"
The First Congregational Church of Bay Shore was established in 1853. The present sanctuary was built in 1891 by ship's carpenters and is listed in the National Register of Historical Places. You can expect a warm welcome at 10:00 am Sunday worship services. Holy communion is celebrated on the first Sunday each month, and is open to everyone. After services, all are invited to coffee hour, an opportunity for fellowship.
Our beautiful sanctuary features dramatic, inverted crossed hulls of ships, 29 breathtaking stained glass windows, and a 113-year old Orman Organ. The sanctuary is frequently adorned with colors that represent the seasons of the Christian calendar. Sunday School begins at 10:30 am and is open to children from pre-K through the 12th grade.
Sunday Service - The Power of Intention- part 2- Actions speak louder than words
"Hey look at me....look what I did"....Jesus today addresses those words and says..."I see you ...but do you see me?"
As Martha in today's Gospel, wonders about the Lord's awareness of her works, Jesus tells her there is so much more to living as a follower of Christ than your works....He tells her to check her "Intention"....why do you do what you do.....Good question for us today....why do WE do what we do..
This week...ask yourself...why do I do that...or this...or the other...and if the answer is anything but love....check your intention.....Come & See...God has a new way of looking at things...and I think you'll like it...
Jesus today challenges His disciples to go to all the world and be a beacon of light to a darkened world. His challenge is given to us today. He tells us that He is with us as we hold that light up high.
Let's face it ….our world needs Jesus....right now...and we have the opportunities to bring Him to OUR world...As your Pastor I challenge you too...tell people today and throughout the week to Come & See the goodness of the Lord....Do we dare?
As we celebrate the last Sunday of June, there are so many things we should be thankful for...graduations, end of the school year, our Concert of Hope, the fellowship of FCC, the confirmation of Mark..... God keeps giving....... and God keeps asking...."Do you trust me".. Today is "Tomorrow now"...no time for waiting...let us, this week answer His question...Do you trust Him?....Will you surrender all?...Hmmm....Now, when you believe right.....you WILL live right....and when you get that..... share it with someone and tell them to Come & See the goodness of the Lord.
